Growin’ A Future
Matt had a dream of having his own business and through hard work and lots of help from family and friends, he built a greenhouse on his family’s farm. Matt decided to grow herbs in his greenhouse and sell them to the public for cooking. He grew his first crop this summer and was able to sell some of his herbs to people in the community, though was unable to afford the fees to sell them at the Farmers Market and was not able to sell as much as he had wished. Through some research and investigation a distributor was found who will buy his herbs next year and they will be sold at a local health food store in Boone. Matt was happy that his business was showing potential and that he had found a market for his product. A recent wind storm brought some deflation for Matt when the roof was blown off his greenhouse and all his plants were frozen. He will have some hard work ahead to repair his greenhouse and prepare for his next growing season, but he has not given up hope of realizing his dream
