MLK Challenge with Appalachian State University

image

Martin Luther King Day took on new meaning for our Joy Cove staff and residents as we were greeted by a team of ten ASU students who came to volunteer for the day for ASU’s MLK Challenge! The students sent the Residential Caregivers off for lunch while they cleaned both homes top to bottom and made dinner for the residents including chicken pot pie, salad, corn, and apple crisp for dessert. The residents came home early for a meet and greet with the students and everyone enjoyed a great time. Justin, an avid Kung Fu student did a demonstration with his staff for the students before they left and everyone enjoyed his talent. Thanks ASU and NC ACT (Appalachian and the Community Together) for a wonderful experience!

Ms. Pennington shared about Baptist Children’s Homes of NC and about Joy Cove and our ministry. The Joy Cove group was introduced and they all enjoyed meeting the church family.

One God; one faith; one baptism

image image image

Joy Cove is happy to welcome another brother in Christ. Justin was baptized at Union Baptist Church on September 19, 2010. His parents and his Joy Cove family were present to witness his joy and his proclamation of faith. We are so proud of the wonderful young man Justin has become.

VBS 2010

All the guys at Three Forks Home enjoyed a week of Vacation Bible School at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The theme this year was western inspired and they had a great time making cowboy hats, bandanas, pages for the group home scrap books, and taking old fashioned western photos. The lessons during the week centered on God’s love and provision for us as his children and all the guys enjoyed the learning, fellowship, and fun atmosphere. On commencement night, they had a great dance to perform for the audience and enjoyed sharing it with friends and family.
