Wounded Warrior Project

image

While at the beach several of the residents took a marsh crusie sponsored by the Wonded Warrior Project. They rode on a ferry boat through Hammocks Beach State Park to learn a little about the history of the park, see wildlife such as dolphins, eagles, egrets, and osprey, and enjoyed cruising along in the marsh. The Wounded Warrior Project is a nonprofit organization that honors and empowers wounded warriors through various programs and services. Everyone that went on this trip had a great time!

Joy Cove Goes to Fort Macon

image

The guys enjoyed a day of touring through Fort Macon while we were vacationing at Atlantic Beach.

A little bit about Fort Macon is a historic landmark. Located at the eastern end of Bogue Banks, one of a series of barrier islands along the North Carolina coast, the park is surrounded on three sides by water—the Atlantic Ocean, Beaufort Inlet and Bogue Sound. This area of undisturbed natural beauty is the perfect place to explore salt marshes and estuaries vital to the coastal ecosystem.

While at Fort Macon the guys watched a movie about the history of the fort, ventured through a life like exhibit of the ocean and how pollution effects it, and toured the fort where several rooms had historical facts about the fort and the soldiers.

This was a great adventure that all the guys enjoyed!

Sharing Hope..Changing Lives Through Shoe Boxes

image

The guys at Three Forks home were invited by their home church, Union Baptist Church in Zionville, to come out and help pack shoe boxes for Samaritan’s Purse. Operation Christmas Child is a really big event in our area due to the headquarters being located in Boone. Several months worth of planning and preparation took place in order to get to the big packing of the shoe boxes moment. Our guys packed boxes with a joyful heart and a giving spirit. It is amazing to think that the guys hands may be the last hands to touch a particular item before it is opened by a excited child some where around the world. We thank Union Baptist Church for allowing the guys this opportnity and providing them with their favorite dinner… Pizza!!!

Clowning Around… Again!

image

Once again we recieved a donation from Lynn Hubbard of tickets to the Shriners Circus. On October 26th, the residents enjoyed another show put on my clowns, elephants, tigers, motorcyles, and many more. Everyone enjoys seeing some tricks that seem so impossible. Thank you Lynn for your generosity!
