Swimming at Wingate University

Each year our residents participate in swimming for Special Olympics hosted by the swim team at Wingate University. The athletes each have a buddy that helps them learn new skills. They practice once a week until the final swim meet which was held yesterday, April 19th. Mike competed in the assisted swim and came away with the gold medal. Sedrick participated in the assisted swim and won a bronze medal. Carey and Ronnie did the unassisted swim and both won bronze medals. David and Billy did the unassisted swim and both won silver medals. We had such a great time and followed up all of our hard work with a pizza party! Thank you Wingate University swim team for your dedication to our athletes and Special Olympics!

Unionville Baptist Ladies Bless our Residents
Our residents were blessed by some members from Unionville Baptist Church when they came to deliver some Easter baskets to them! The baskets were full of goodies and we so enjoyed the fellowship with these women. Thank you for taking the time to visit our home!

Bowling with the Aktion Club

Members of the Union County Aktion Club and Mecklenburg County Aktion Club gathered together for a fun time of bowling at Carolina Lanes in Matthews. There were around 125 members present for this event. Everyone was decked out in their Aktion Club t-shirts and bowled their hearts out, then stuffed their faces with pizza. We all had such a great time and can’t wait to do this again. The Aktion Club is a service organization sponsored by the Kiwani’s.

Stegall Home Residents Surprise
The residents of Stegall Home were surprised and blessed by a donation of some very nice NFL jackets from the Waxhaw Police Department. You could not wipe the smiles off of their faces. and everyone was able to get their favorite team. The weather the next morning was going to be in the 80’s, but wild horses could not stop them from wearing these jackets to work- they had to show off their new finery! Thank you Waxhaw Police Department for making their year!

Girl Scouts, Crafts, and Cookies

Girl Scout Troop 91 came to Stegall Home to do crafts, make cookies, and play games with the residents for Valentine’s Day. We are so thankful for this group of young ladies for their willingness to come and spend time with our guys and for making them feel so special! What a blessing you are to all of us!
