Carey’s Accomplishment!

image

I walked in the door of the group home today and Carey is sitting in the foyer waiting for me.  He is holding something in his hand and he asked me to come and look at it.  His grin is from ear to ear as he holds up a plaque that reads ”  Associate of the Quarter- 1st Quarter 2012” from his place of employment, Food Lion.  I could not have been more happy for Carey.  He follows me into my office and says ” I am proud of my accomplishment.”  He talks about how surprised he was to receive the award.  He was invited to join the team “huddle” at Food Lion on Wednesday and his fellow co-workers presented him with this special recognition to which Carey replied that it had been his pleasure!  I always tell others that I wish I had 20 employees like the men at our home- they WANT to work, and look forward to going each day.  While they are at work they give 110% of themselves to their positions- they may not be the fastest or the strongest, but they are all heart, and to me that counts the most!  Congratulations, Carey on this wonderful accomplishment!  Way to go!

Fun with Rocky River Baptist Church

imageimageimageimageimage

The youth group along with Pastor Dennis Stegall from Rocky River Baptist Church in Polkton came to visit our home on Sunday, May 6th.  They played games with the residents to include:  bocce ball, basketball, corn hole, and of course LEGO’s.  We also had a cookout with some yummy hot dogs!  Rocky River collected items for our home too- laundry soap, bottled water, toilet paper, etc.  We are so thankful for this church and its support of our home!  Thank you for giving of your time and talents!  We love you!

Blessing from Cabarrus Baptist Association

imageimageimageimageimage

The Cabarrus Baptist Association blessed Baptist Children’s Homes by delivering an enclosed trailer full of food and personal items to the Stegall Home.  Mr. Robert Leonard and Pastor Marvin Tyson from the association personally delivered the food- Pastor John Miller from Pleasant Hill Baptist came to help with this effort ( although I think they were just looking forward to having some Mexican food here in Marshville)!!!  We were so blessed with the outpouring of love from the churches in the Cabarrus Baptist Association that we were able to share some items with two of our other DDM homes in Winston-Salem.  We are so thankful for the kindness shown to us and for their willingness to be God’s Hands and Feet here on this earth.  Thank you Cabarrus Baptist Association for your gracious and generous gift and support of Baptist Children’s Homes of NC!

Joy Prom 2012

imageimageimageimageimageimageimage

Friday, April 27th, residents from Stegall Home along with many others attended the 6th annual Joy Prom at Carmel Baptist Church in Charlotte.  They were announced walking down the red carpet where Ronnie proceeded to moonwalk, and David spinned and twirled!  The men were given shoe shines and the women were glitzed and glittered.  There was a huge dessert banquet along with a live band!  Some of our men lucked up this year and had 2 dates- talk about some lucky ducks!  Everyone receives a formal prom portrait and they are allowed to purchase a DVD of the event!  Carmel Baptist goes out of its way to make each person feel special, and highlight they are just the way God made them to be!  His fingerprints are all over them!  Thank you Carmel Baptist for this special night- our night to shine!

Picnic at the pond

imageimageimage

Stegall Home is blessed to have a pond with a picnic shelter for our residents to enjoy.  We decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and have a picnic with chicken salad sandwiches, chips, and banana pudding.  The water was beautiful, the grass was freshly mowed, and our spirits were full of God’s wonderful creations.  We have a mother duck sitting on some eggs, and can’t wait for them to hatch!  God is so good!  His mercies are new every day!
