J.O.Y Prom 2012
It is that time of the year for proms!!! And that is just where the men from Mercer were on Friday night, 27 April 2012, eating, dancing, and photo taking. The J.O.Y Prom was held at Providence Baptist Church in Raleigh this year and there was a great turn out. There were 600 special learning needs adults with 600 escorts in attendance. The evening started with a walk down the red carpet for everyone to the church. The men were then treated to getting their shoes shined while the women had their hair done and a makeup application. Then they were whisked off to the photo booth for pictures of everyone with their suit, and dress on. The food was on then with an “Around the World” theme, and then the night truly began with, yes of course, DANCING!!! The music was awesome beach music, and of course the Cupid Shuffle, and the Electric Slide. Yes, it was a wonderful spring evening to enjoy a prom, and even though the men were quite tired by the end of the night, it was well worth it!!!

Broadway Our Way 2012
While the end of April is just around the corner, the opportunities to have fun are plenty to be sure here in Sanford! In fact the men from Mercer were out and about Saturday, 21 April 2012, in Broadway to be exact, at the “Broadway Our Way” festival. This was the 4th annual family fun festival held in downtown Broadway with continuous live entertainment, street fair, BBQ Cook-off, Cornhole Tournament, and the ever popular Street Dance. The men certainly enjoyed the day with all the activities and a chance to be outside enjoying the nice weather on Saturday, with a little dancing of course. One thing is for sure, the Mercer guys aren’t going to let “moss” grow underneath their feet!!! We are enjoying life, yes we are!!

Animals, Animals, Animals!
Saturday April 14,2012 was a perfect day for a trip to the zoo. The Asheboro Zoo to be exact and that is just where the residents from Mercer and Lanier Homes spent the day, enjoying the picture perfect day walking the grounds, and viewing all the different animals the Asheboro Zoo has to offer. It was a lovely day, the kind of day that brings out all the animals from their hiding spaces for all the people to view and enjoy their beauty and grace. The residents were able to enjoy the tram ride around the different continents, walk through Africa, and have a picnic lunch compliments of Martha from Thomasville. It was great way to spend a Saturday…with sunshine, no humidity, good food, and friends….......equals a lifetime of memories!!!
