Frosty Friday!

image

The ladies of Lindsay Home had a delicious treat after work on Friday when they went to Wendy’s to get a frosty. The ladies also participated in a meeting to discuss ways of earning Joy Clips and what they would want to trade them in for. Joy Clips are an incentive to do the best they can do on a daily basis. The ladies decided that doing chores correctly, waking up on time, being ready to leave on time were among several of the options to earn Joy Clips. They also thought that getting out of chores for a day, decorating a staff person, having a pizza party and more were all good prizes to trade Joy Clips in on after they were earned. The ladies seemed to have a good time.

Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve….

imageimage

The title of this blog is the beginning of a quote by Martin Luther King JR the rest goes as follows “You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” Joy Cove experienced this love and greatness on Monday January 16th when a group of student from ASU came out for their 13th annual MLK Day on, not off Challenge. A group of 9 students and 1 staff member came to Joy Cove to help out with a variety of projects that needed to be completed as well as hang out with the residents! They did a deep clean of the homes, organized the craft and art supplies, cooked dinner, made our laundry detergent, put together our Joy Cove Super Star Prize Board, and planned an activity with the residents. We are very excited that we got the opportunity to be a site that the students came to! Thank you for your hard work ASU and the ACT office!

January’s Joy Cove Super Star!

image

A new year brings new fun! The staff at Joy Cove decided that it would be fun to do a monthly award ceremony recognizing a resident each month as the Joy Cove Super Star! January’s Super Star is Maria! Maria achieved the high percentage of both homes on her goals for the month of December, she does her chores independently, and is a genuiely nice person! We are very proud of you Maria! When a resident is chosen to be the Joy Cove Super Star they recieve a variety of goodies. They get an award certificate with their name on it, a sweet treat recognizing what a good job they have done, and a chance to get a prize off the prize board! The prizes they are eligible to recieve include extra phone time, their choice of a special dinner to prepare, a chore free day, one on one time with a staff of their choice, or picking something out of the treasure chest! We are proud of the progress that all of the residents at Joy Cove are making and want them to know it!

A Balanced Diet is a Cookie in Each Hand!

image

The Ladies at Lindsay Home enjoy making treats as much as they enjoy eating treats! The ladies had a group activity of making cookies on night which is a special treat for all of the ladies to be able to participate in an activity in the kitchen. They all took turns placing the dough on the pan, cooking, and getting them off the pan.
