It’s Christmas Time Again

Things around Hinkle house are beginning to look rather festive. Residents, Caregivers and Administrative Staff all pitched in to hang the stockings, trim the tree and get the porch decorated. There were even three reindeer running about! This year Davis house decided to cook dinner for the Hinkle ladies and their families. The men slaved all day in the kitchen and then served the ladies and their family a wonderful dinner. It was a wonderful time for everyone to get a chance and sit down and enjoy each other’s company. We had a few guests of honor at the dinner, there were two possible new residents and their families. It was a fun night with lots of great food and loving family and friends. Thank you Davis house for allowing Hinkle to have such a beautiful night!

Hinkle Goes to the Mountains
The ladies at Hinkle House had a wonderful chance to travel to the BCH home in the mountains. They had a great weekend filled with lots of fun and adventures. Hinkle house enjoyed traveling thru the mountain. They had a very picturesque lunch on the drive up. They spent the day hiking at Grandfather Mountain. The ladies had a beautiful lunch at the Swinging Bridge in Mount Mitchell state park. The ladies are posed above at the sign for Mt. Mitchell. They all had a wonderful time and have expressed an interested in returning to the mountains in the near future.

Hinkle takes to farm life

For the Labor Day holiday, the residents were out of school. They had a wonderful opportunity to visit Harmony Ridge Farm in Tobaccoville NC. At the farm they met farmer, Isaac who showed them around his 15 acre organic farm. The residents saw a plethora of John Deere equipment, a 4 pound sweet potato, greenhouses and lots and lots of vegetables. Isaac gave the residents good ideas for their fall garden, such as, cabbage, broccoli, beets, radishes, lettuce, spinach and many more! After the tour, residents helped Isaac pick 8 pounds of green-beans, sampling as they went of coarse! After all the hard work, the residents enjoyed a nice picnic lunch under a very very old white oak tree. Once lunch was gobbled up residents took a ride with Isaac to see the rest of the farm as well as the neighbor’s horses.
Here we have a picture of our group with Isaac. As well as a picture of Nancy showing off her amazing been picking skills! . . . you go girl! To tell the truth Marcie and Nancy made a great team picking beans. They had it worked out so Marcie would hold the basket and Nancy would collect the beans. Thats what best friends are for!
It was certainly a great time had by all! The residents have been invited back to Harmony Ridge to help Isaac with his future harvest (maybe we can do some pumpkin picking there!)
