Robin Parnell, who has been W/S’s Administrator since 2008, became DDM’s Administrative and Training Coordinator on April 1. This is a much needed position for our program, and we are already reaping the benefits of having an internal trainer. With Robin’s knowledge, experience, and Qualified Professional status, she is able to provide direct support and hands-on training to new administrators, support staff, and residential caregivers. She is doing internal training for DDM in NCI, CPR/FA, Blood Borne Pathogens, and other required trainings. Furthermore, Robin is providing recreational support for childcare workers at Mills Home in Thomasville.
Additionally, Elaine Munden became the new Administrator for Hinkle and Davis Homes in Winston Salem on May 1. The transition has been smooth as she was previously their Administrative Support team member. She has taken charge of the homes with much knowledge and excitement for the new challenge. Elaine comes to BCH with degrees majoring in Recreation Therapy and English as well as a minor in Business Administration. She is very much a cheerleader and advocate for this special population as well as for BCH.
Please take a moment to congratulate both of these ladies for their new achievements!
Judd takes a break on a sunny Friday after working all week at Brixx Pizza Restaurant. Judd and Kevin seem to be discussing some important issues or are they swapping pizza recipes?
Kevin Kiser, Caregiver for the “Davis Disciples”, teaches Josh the importance of tilling the soil for a healthy garden!
The Davis House residents have enjoyed the past two weeks of labor on their new garden. Some herbs have been planted at this point, along with a butterfly bush and some marigolds. They have set out the tomato plants to acclimate to the weather and look forward to planting when it gets consitently warm. Zann especialy took ownership of planting the tomato seeds and nurturing the plants as they grew in his windowsill. All together there will be a large variety of vegetables and herbs. One special project is a section of the garden dedicated to growing loofas.
