Springing Forward

imageimageimageimage

The last couple of months have been very eventful for the Davis House crew. We celebrated great victories on the basketball court, winning a team gold medal for the Forsyth County contingent at the state games! We were thrown a big circumstantial curveball having to move out of the house for a while as repairs are being done, but the guys are handling it admirably. In the attached photo you can see us in our wonderful temporary home Little Cottage, on the Mills Home campus in Thomasville. What a blessing to have such a great place to retreat to! While there we have kept very busy with our usual woodland explorations, some disc golf, trips to the movies, basketball games, and a visit to the NC Transportation Museum in Spencer. While in Spencer we saw some incredible machines and got to ride a train! (A first for all of us) Also this week we celebrate the many good years of care given to our residents by Miss Brenda Horne. She is taking up a new ministry and a new direction in life. We will all miss her VERY much and know that our lives are better for the time she spent with us…God continues to bless in every circumstance. We here at Davis are so grateful for his presence with us during this season of change!

A Full December

imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

Davis House was really hoppin’ all throughout December. We had so much fun with friends from all over. The folks at Forsyth Park Baptist Church have been true supporters to BCH for several years now, and we were blessed to share a Christmas meal with them! (And fantastic treat bags) The Davis guys cherish the time we spend with them and this Christmas season the ladies joined us for the meal also. THANK YOU SO MUCH FORSYTH PARK for the consistent love and help you show us.
We also had our annual Christmas Bash for family and residents, which turned out to be the most fun that we have all had together yet. We are grateful to the parents and families who took time to prepare incredibly good food and spend the evening here at the homes with us…Caregivers and Administration are always reminded during these gatherings, just how blessed we are to have the support that we do. Thank you for all the help you give our team as we strive to make this an amazing place for our residents to live. God has blessed us all very much this year!
The Davis guys finished the year off with a group bike ride out on the Muddy Creek Greenway, attempting to burn off some of the thousands of calories that we all consumed during this season of celebration. We rode five miles on the afternoon of the 31st, then ate more food that night when we celebrated the new year…Good Times!

A Great Weekend Together!

imageimageimageimage

This group does not sit still often…We started out Friday with a trip to the movies and we were all thoroughly entertained by “Planet of the Apes.”
Saturday we headed for the hills. Our favorite recipe for a really good day is to pack snacks, water, and whatever else we need…Jump in the van…drive towards high ground with no particular plan, and see what unfolds. This trip turned out to be a fantastic challenge for us. We hiked, climbed, and scrambled to the top of Hanging Rock and back, helping each other a great deal along the way. There was so much patience and helpfulness shown between the guys. They stuck together with great attitudes and finished with tired smiles on their faces. I was extremely proud of how gracious they were to each other.
Sunday we represented BCH at North Lexington Baptist Church, worshipping with them and sharing about our home here. As you can see in the photo the fellas were looking sharp, and their good looks were exceeded only by their friendliness!
